Vax sighed. "I think..." He trailed off, taking a moment to organize his thoughts. "I think they're trying awfully hard to show us that everything is fine. That doesn't happen if things are actually fine."
Vax didn't think any of his experiences at all compared to real slavery. But he'd technically been a slave (for like, a few days) and more than that, he'd had to live life knowing he was at someone else's beck and call, that he didn't have his own choices to make. The thought that he might be doing that to someone else made his stomach clench.
